So it was a slow day at work today, and turns out I'm actually getting TIME OFF until 7 pm WEDNESDAY! Get to sleep in tomorrow and everything <3 then probably going into town to do things like sleep in my own bed, and go looking at laptops FINALLY. If only school had gotten their act together and posted the book list today/before today, I could also go book shopping, but that's not happening unless they post them tomorrow or early-ish Wednesday.
Anyway, back to the slow day I had. I decided to start actively looking at some of the schools I could study abroad at. I ended up completely spacing out and only really looking at the one school. In my defence, it turned out to be a SWEET option. No schools on offer in NYC you say? Well, there's one in New Jersey, a stone's throw away!
St. Peter's College in Jersey City. I looked the location up on Google Maps, and kind of freaked a little in checking out how easy it would be to go over to Manhattan, and not to mention the route to Giants Stadium (will be the brand new Meadowlands Stadium in 2010) in order to see a Jets game or two (or a few more even!) What I love about Google Maps (which, strangely enough, Google Earth does NOT offer to my knowledge) is the option to look for directions based on public transport. Because duh, that's pretty much the only option I see myself having (about 30 minutes into NYC by train, and around an hour to Meadowlark by 2 buses, though I do believe there will be better options in 2010 with the new stadium, or so the Jets site told me)
But my Jets mania bubbling up aside, I gave the curriculum a brief glance, and the courses had really interesting names and such. The school's only drawback? No football team. :( They disbanded it in 2007 Wikipedia told me. The main thing there is basketball, which, ok, is my no. 2 and all, but I would LOVE to go to a school that has a football team. If St. Peter's had a football team it would be a slam dunk, no more questions would have to be asked. But alas, it is ranking very high ATM though.
My 3 things I'm looking for at the moment are:
1. Location: Either coast preferably, though it looks like the East Coast has a lot more options on offer)
2. Quality of school: Don't quite know how I'm supposed to evaluate that, getting on it as soon as school starts with going to see the people that help with this kind of thing.
3. Sports/Football team? That's a part of the experience that I want to have, preferably a football team has to be present, but I think I can deal without it.
Anyone up to helping indecisive me decide? Info under the cut..
( Masses of information )So, any thoughts? I'm leaving this post open for a bit, if you happen to have someone on your friends list that might be able to give me ANY help at all, could you ask them for me pretty please?
Off to sleep, WITHOUT HAVING TO SET THE ALARM! WOOHOO!
